Before and After Landscaping at Auburn Bay- Landscape Design By The Landscape Artist
This generously sized pie lot in Auburn Bay was designed for an active young family with a focus on entertaining and recreation.
The property was already landscaped when we started the design process and extensive modifications were made. We transplanted many of existing trees and kept the large open turf area concept for evolution of required play structures and game area.
An outdoor kitchen with a barbecue grill and smoker was installed. It features granite counters and a cultured stone facing. Stainless steel drawers under the grill provided handy storage.
The patio flows out to a large gas fire pit, which is a popular spot on cool Calgary evenings and can also be used year round as a family gathering place.
The slope in the backyard was mitigated with a cultured concrete retaining wall product called Rosetta Outcropping, which is a good alternative to natural stone. This product is well suited to a property of this scale and blends well with the fire pit and papers for a unified look.
Trees were positioned to provide privacy and envelope this generously sized property. A new cedar deck, was installed along with a built in spa, which is conveniently located just outside the back door. Cultured stone was applied to the deck to tie it together with the barbecue area.
Along the side of the home, the existing shed was incorporated into a raised vegetable garden, providing some space for fresh vegetables and herbs to be grown.
The front yard is simple but provides curb appeal and a welcoming entrance to the back garden.
